About ION

Founded in 2012. Built for injury cases.

Illinois Orthopedic Network was founded with a single premise: injured workers and personal injury patients deserve the same quality of coordinated orthopedic care as any other patient — delivered through a network purpose-built for the realities of their cases.

ION was co-founded in 2012 by Dr. Marc Strongin, DC and Dr. Irvin Wiesman, MD — two clinicians who had independently built injury-focused practices in Chicago and recognized that the existing medical infrastructure for workers' compensation and personal injury cases was not serving patients or referring counsel well. Records were fragmented. Scheduling was slow. Specialist coordination was an afterthought.

What began as two Chicago locations has grown into one of Illinois' largest orthopedic networks — 100+ Chicagoland locations, 150+ board-certified specialists, and more than 4,050 WC and PI patients treated. The network includes orthopedic surgery, spine care, pain management (led by Dr. Alyson Engle, MD), rehabilitation through the Strongin Injury & Rehab Group clinics, diagnostic imaging, and Quick Care for acute orthopedic injuries.

Executive leadership is led by Terris Alene as Chief Executive Officer, with Kathryn Shaw as Chief Financial Officer. The operations and administrative team covers clinical supervision, case management, surgical services, HR, accounting, and practice management — ensuring that the network operates as a single, coordinated medical organization rather than a loose affiliation of clinics.
